What a Day for a Daydream

It's April, and if you are experiencing the same weather we've had here, it's been a rough one; freezing cold, raining, partially snowing, it was just plain dreadful! Luckily the weather has finally begun to turn, and my current daydreams are taking me back to this shoot from last summer, the days when the suns warmth would be shining on my face during an afternoon stroll downtown. I long to see those day's again!

I know, I KNOW, we're almost there, but memories like these are made to relive during dark times {and yes, I considered this months weather to be dark times}. They exist to inspire you, drive you forward and give you a reason to live life to the fullest. So if you want to know what I'll be doing for the rest of spring, I'll be stuck in my daydream.

Current Obsession: Vinyl

Anyone who love's 70's fashion, or can appreciate a show with good drama and authentic costume, will understand me when I say, I love this show! Its got everything you love and hate about the 70's; Bell-bottoms, clogs, polyester, big hair, big music, drugs, and colorful geometric patterns that will make your head spin. Whether you secretly wish to live a rock-n-roll lifestyle like Richie Finestra, or looking for that 70's inspiration for your trendy Spring/Summer wardrobe, Vinyl is spot on with capturing the true essence of this electric, rock-n-roll, "stroke" of a fashion era.

Here are my outfit inspirations from the shows leading ladies:

Jumpsuit: Nordstrom Rack | Hat: Nordstrom | Handbag: Macy's | Bangle: Forever 21 | Ring: Forever 21 | Sunglasses: ASOS | Shoes: Macy's

Dress: Topshop | Jacket: Bloomingdale's | Shoe's: Lord & Taylor's | Mini bucket bag: Macy's | Necklace: Nordstrom | Ring set: Forever 21

Inspired yet?

Light some incense, jump in your bean bag chairs, turn on HBO and let me know what you think. You'll be glad you stopped your busy day and vegged out for a bit.

From Columbus With Love

I used to live in NY, and I miss it from time to time but I'm not mad about moving back home and reconnecting with this city. Things will always change around you, that's just life. It's important to remember your experiences are meant to shape your future, not define your roots. While life can be misleading at times, it's good to stop every now and then and remember where you came from. Always embrace it! It's the best part of what makes you who you are. Today, I'm paying homage to the one place I will always call home; Columbus, Ohio.

Time to Timeout

It's the first of the month and I forgot to pay my rent. I have dishes that have sat in my sink for a week, and mold on my table...yes, mold on my table...Note to self, don't leave a sack of potato's in a hot car for 5 days then set them on your table for another 4...I don't know where to find the time to do anything anymore but hey, shit happens!

Naturally, I'm daydreaming more about the luxuries of life lately, like those things you get from your work called PTO? Yeah, those things seem like myths anymore. Lucky for me, I'm taking a few days off next week to decompress and reset. Until then, I'll stay in my daydream, where I lounge poolside with a hat, and have cabana boys bring me drinks in coconuts.

Ciao!

Offline

Why? Because I'm finally in a summer state of mind! I may not be taking any tropical vacations this year but that doesn't mean I can't channel the island life energy. If you're sailing in the same boat as I am this summer and not taking a real vacation, I highly recommend spending as much time filling your day's with fun outdoor activities. Even if it's buying a kiddie pool, filling it with water and pretending your at a day spa lounging in the sun (drink in hand, of course), it's at least something for you to beat those summertime woes. Life is too short to not make the most out of a crappy situation, especially for all my Ohio peeps who have been experiencing nothing but rain all summer long....Stop complaining and go play in it already! Oh, and while your out, make sure to rock your tropical gear. It's an instant mood enhancer....You'll thank me later. You're welcome!

Nature's Cure

The best part about summer? Being surrounded by nature, of course! I spent most of my childhood being outdoors; camping, hiking, and swimming at my dad's old lake house. It's only natural that I find these to be some of my favorite childhood memories.

Life gets hectic at times...well, scratch that, most of the time life is hectic. We are so caught up in technology 24/7 that people are slowly loosing the ability to think for themselves and live in the moment. You need to keep the peace within you. My solution? Pull yourself away from it all and submerge yourself in mother nature. There is nothing more refreshing than the stillness and simplicity you will find outside, without work, without phones, without any technology whatsoever. Life is beautiful and you are the creator of your own happiness, why not spend it your most natural state?

Don't Call It A Comeback

Did you miss me?! Of course you did! ;-) I missed you too! I've spent a lot of time adjusting to my new job but I'm back at it again! Don't worry, I'm still a shoe lover working for DSW, I just work in handbags now. Do you know what that means?...I've always been a bag lady, but now I'm truly a bag lady who owns a cat, which means I'm a crazy cat, bag lady...Definitely no bueno for the dating life but luckily I have someone who somehow loves me for all my crazies...

I know keeping up with your appearance may seem silly and superficial, but I can't stress it enough how important it is to always look your best, especially in the workplace. Fashion can be overwhelming, but a good look doesn't require much. Put a jacket on over a basic base, pair it with the right accessories and you've got yourself a look worthy for the office. It can even transition your day into evening on your hot date with your significant other, girls night out, or a Netflix date with yourself and a glass of wine...why not?!
