The Good, The Bad, The Crazy

Wow! Sometimes life happens so fast. These last 2 months have been a whirlwind of emotions, stress and adventures. What seemed like a few days turned into a few several weeks and I can't tell you how amazing it feels having a night off to catch up on a little R&R, and Lucky Cat Fashion. Without further adieu; my adventures in the Arena District, captured by my beautiful and dear friend, Belinda.

A League of Her Own

There's nothing like an old fashioned, all-American baseball game that really makes me nostalgic. Some of my greatest memories as a kid was spent on the baseball field with dirt on my face and big league chew in my back pocket (Oh yeah, you know you remember those days). What I would give to live that carefree life again where nothing else mattered but the love of the game....and the soft serve ice cream after a huge win, of course! ;-)

Today's outfit was channeled through the makings of my childhood dreams of becoming a professional softball player. It's so great being a woman and getting to prance around in heels all day, but it's an even better day when I can throw on a baseball hat, my favorite pair of Converse sneakers and still feel girly and feminine...I'll always be a tomboy at heart.

Summer, Summer, Summertime

Hi all! I'm back! I'm sorry I've been so MIA lately but with summer in it's peak, I found myself crazy busy all of a sudden...birthday parties, weddings, BBQ's, you name it, I've done it all this month.

I tend to gravitate more towards my wardrobe basics during this time of year simply because pairing them with a few statement accessories pulls a chic and casual look worthy of any summertime activity. Plus, the less time I spend determining what textures, prints and cuts to pair together, the more time I get to spend in the sun...Mmm, vitamin D.

I hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as I am these days because that's what it's all about; relaxing, having fun, and being outside as much as possible. We only get a few months of this beautiful warm weather so if you don't have that tan line yet then I strongly advise you continue reading this out on your patio, or by the pool. A drink in hand is necessary too...it's time to sit back and unwind. ;)

Happy Independence Day, America!

First and foremost, thank you to all of the brave men and women who have served, or are currently serving to protect this country. It is an honor to be a part of this nation and live among you.

As I take a moment of remembrance today and think of how many great risks and sacrifices were made to build this country, I have many things to be thankful for but being an American I am most proud of. This country was built on the innovations of our Founding Fathers, who believed in a land of liberty, created by the people that belonged to the people. This is a land of opportunity and we can pursue happiness in any way we see fit. We are not perfect by any means, and disagree often we do but what I love so much about this country is that we can still live freely in such diversity.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday! Please remember to take a moment of silence today in remembrance of those who have courageously stood in great risk to protect our freedom.

What a great day to be an American!
Enjoy!

Coffee Talk

Fact, as Karl Lagerfeld quotes, "One is never overdressed or underdressed in a little black dress." It is a woman's #1 closet staple. Also fact, I am in love with this black maxi I found while shopping for workout clothes one day- unexpected fashion finds are always my favorite.

The term "little black dress" became popular during the Great Depression thanks to Coco Chanel who published an image of a simple black dress in Vogue magazine back in 1926. This "little black dress" became known as the Ford of the fashion world because of it's accessibility to woman of all social classes. It is a sort of uniform for a woman with taste, therefore ladies, I hope you make sure you have this staple covered. Now, technically this isn't a "little" black dress I'm wearing, however this dress is still as versatile as it is chic. I'm always about clothes being easy and comfortable in the mornings and this dress makes me feel like a million bucks...always! Other than a freshly brewed cup of joe in the morning, a little black dress is the best thing that could happen to a woman. Agreed? ;-)

W. Town Street

I hate Sunday, the day you wake up and immediately start dreading the things you need to do before going back to work on Monday. Productive? Sure, but who wants to sit down to Sunday dinner feeling like they were just done dirty by a cheap Canal St. scam? Instead, you could spend it wasting away at brunch with friends, sipping the hair of the dog while trying to keep your cool from planting yourself on the bathroom floor. Back in my early 20's I'd go for this option, however lately I've taken a different approach to Sunday's: I pack them venturing downtown with my new girl crush Belinda (House of Phrase), discovering new places and taking impromptu photo's to post to my blog. Minus the avoidance of my personal daily responsibilities, I'm pretty sure this is what being an adult feels like.

A couple weeks ago, Belinda and I met up at W. Town St. to take pictures. This location is honestly my favorite place. It's like being a kid and walking into Dylan's Candy Bar for the first time; around every corner there was something new to see. Our curiosities brought us into an old historic facility that will soon be known as The Land Grant Brewing Company. We met Adam Benner, one of the founders, who graciously allowed us to take a self-guided tour through the gutted facility and snap some pics. I won't spoil the final product but what I will say is that Columbus residents are in for a treat because this place is going to be amaze!

After dusting ourselves off we stopped by Rehab Tavern for a drink. Inside, the walls were covered in original works by Joss Parker, a modern american artist who's work takes influence of contemporary street artists such as Mr. Brainwash, KAWS, and Banksy, as well as pop artist master, Andy Warhol. I couldn't believe how affordable his artwork was. I talked myself into buying one of his pieces before I left and I'm so glad I did because his work is fantastic! I pick it up at the end of the month which means you have about another week to see his showcase. Make sure you check it out ASAP!

All in all, as Ice Cube would say...It was a good day!

Enjoy!

Crazy for Kimonos

Summer is here, and it's F'ing hot! Nothing channels my free-spirited summer vibes better than this Aztec inspired kimono I just bought last winter.

I'm so busy this time of year I hardly have time to dress myself. Luckily I've built stock in these bad boys because they're the easiest thing to throw over any outfit and transform it into a chic superhero costume. You will definitely see more of these kimonos coming out of my closet this season. I'm in love!
