I hate Sunday, the day you wake up and immediately start dreading the things you need to do before going back to work on Monday. Productive? Sure, but who wants to sit down to Sunday dinner feeling like they were just done dirty by a cheap Canal St. scam? Instead, you could spend it wasting away at brunch with friends, sipping the hair of the dog while trying to keep your cool from planting yourself on the bathroom floor. Back in my early 20's I'd go for this option, however lately I've taken a different approach to Sunday's: I pack them venturing downtown with my new girl crush Belinda (House of Phrase), discovering new places and taking impromptu photo's to post to my blog. Minus the avoidance of my personal daily responsibilities, I'm pretty sure this is what being an adult feels like.
A couple weeks ago, Belinda and I met up at W. Town St. to take pictures. This location is honestly my favorite place. It's like being a kid and walking into Dylan's Candy Bar for the first time; around every corner there was something new to see. Our curiosities brought us into an old historic facility that will soon be known as The Land Grant Brewing Company. We met Adam Benner, one of the founders, who graciously allowed us to take a self-guided tour through the gutted facility and snap some pics. I won't spoil the final product but what I will say is that Columbus residents are in for a treat because this place is going to be amaze!
After dusting ourselves off we stopped by Rehab Tavern for a drink. Inside, the walls were covered in original works by Joss Parker, a modern american artist who's work takes influence of contemporary street artists such as Mr. Brainwash, KAWS, and Banksy, as well as pop artist master, Andy Warhol. I couldn't believe how affordable his artwork was. I talked myself into buying one of his pieces before I left and I'm so glad I did because his work is fantastic! I pick it up at the end of the month which means you have about another week to see his showcase. Make sure you check it out ASAP!
All in all, as Ice Cube would say...It was a good day!
Enjoy!
