Summer, Summer, Summertime

Hi all! I'm back! I'm sorry I've been so MIA lately but with summer in it's peak, I found myself crazy busy all of a sudden...birthday parties, weddings, BBQ's, you name it, I've done it all this month.

I tend to gravitate more towards my wardrobe basics during this time of year simply because pairing them with a few statement accessories pulls a chic and casual look worthy of any summertime activity. Plus, the less time I spend determining what textures, prints and cuts to pair together, the more time I get to spend in the sun...Mmm, vitamin D.

I hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as I am these days because that's what it's all about; relaxing, having fun, and being outside as much as possible. We only get a few months of this beautiful warm weather so if you don't have that tan line yet then I strongly advise you continue reading this out on your patio, or by the pool. A drink in hand is necessary too...it's time to sit back and unwind. ;)

Happy Independence Day, America!

First and foremost, thank you to all of the brave men and women who have served, or are currently serving to protect this country. It is an honor to be a part of this nation and live among you.

As I take a moment of remembrance today and think of how many great risks and sacrifices were made to build this country, I have many things to be thankful for but being an American I am most proud of. This country was built on the innovations of our Founding Fathers, who believed in a land of liberty, created by the people that belonged to the people. This is a land of opportunity and we can pursue happiness in any way we see fit. We are not perfect by any means, and disagree often we do but what I love so much about this country is that we can still live freely in such diversity.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday! Please remember to take a moment of silence today in remembrance of those who have courageously stood in great risk to protect our freedom.

What a great day to be an American!
Enjoy!

Coffee Talk

Fact, as Karl Lagerfeld quotes, "One is never overdressed or underdressed in a little black dress." It is a woman's #1 closet staple. Also fact, I am in love with this black maxi I found while shopping for workout clothes one day- unexpected fashion finds are always my favorite.

The term "little black dress" became popular during the Great Depression thanks to Coco Chanel who published an image of a simple black dress in Vogue magazine back in 1926. This "little black dress" became known as the Ford of the fashion world because of it's accessibility to woman of all social classes. It is a sort of uniform for a woman with taste, therefore ladies, I hope you make sure you have this staple covered. Now, technically this isn't a "little" black dress I'm wearing, however this dress is still as versatile as it is chic. I'm always about clothes being easy and comfortable in the mornings and this dress makes me feel like a million bucks...always! Other than a freshly brewed cup of joe in the morning, a little black dress is the best thing that could happen to a woman. Agreed? ;-)
